KEROSENE

The floor trips me and I fall

The day runs slowly through my fingers as I try to get up

Accidents fools mistake for fate

Are all that I have left to live for

I pray for clarity

Or some forgotten word that means that I’m not wasting my time

Tell me what you see

Is it ghosts or just a mirror that makes you want to leave

No one wants to be the clown after midnight

No one remembers his face

I need a new car

One for a family of three

A wife and a baby with my mother’s name

I’m meant to be something more

Cause all I’ve got is a future with no memories

The smell of kerosene

I am living in the ruins of a life that has passed me by

I wish time could hold its breath

When it was enough for me to hold and to be held

No one wants to be the clown after midnight

No one remembers his face

I need a new car

One for a family of three

A wife and a baby with my mother’s name

I’m meant to be something more

Cause all I’ve got is a future with no memories

The floor trips me and I fall

I watch the flame as it burns down the match to my hand

The smell of kerosene

And it is getting much too late for me to say that it’s early
